How to Set Up and Cycle Your JellyTank

If you’ve ordered a JellyTank and Starter Kit and are ready to set it up.  Follow these simple instructions to ensure your tank is ready to start cycling.

Step 1:

Unpack your JellyTank and Starter Kit.  You should have the following items included in your box:

  • JellyTank
    • LED light
    • Spray Bar
    • Water Pump
    • Bio Balls
  • Jellyfish Salt
  • Filter Pads
  • LED Controller & Power Cord
  • Starter Bio
  • Instant Baby Brine (Jellyfish Food)
  • Cleaning Brush
  • JellyFeeder
  • Hydrometer

Next you will need to find a good location for your JellyTank and close to an outlet.  Before you plug in your JellyTank, we will need to get started on setting up your tank and cycling the water.

Step 2:

Cycling your JellyTank.  You will need about 5 gallons of Distilled or RO (Reverse Osmosis) water.  Do not use water from your sink or faucet as this will harm your jellyfish.  Take the Jellyfish Salt which is included in your Starter Kit and begin mixing the entire bag with 5 gallons of distilled water.  Once the Jellyfish Salt has dissolved, fill the JellyTank and plug in your water pump.

Once the pump has started, pour the entire Starter Bio bottle into the back of the tank over the bio balls.  The starter bio has “good” bacteria in it which starts the cycling process.  This good bacteria grows on the bio balls and will help keep the JellyTank clean and water levels in check.

Step 3:

Let the tank cycle for up to 14 days before ordering and acclimating your Jellyfish.  If you have any questions, please visit our website and click on the support button.
